(Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balm Lipsticks via Boots in Audacious, Standout, Sultry)
Behold, the Revlon ColorBurst Matte Balm lipsticks. It was bound to happen sooner or later with my love and affinity for lipsticks. As you probably have gathered by now, I prefer my lippie over my eye shadows.
Anyways here's my review of the newest in the Revlon lip crayon range and the first Revlon products I've tried for that matter.
The ColorBurst came out this year around Jan. 22, which I didn't even know but you'll pick up on it's new-ness in the range quite quickly with how Boots is promoting them through their side stands and all so it definitely should be on your 'to try' list :)
The range has 10 colours ranging from the nude balm 'Complex' to the darks such as the deep red 'Standout' (2nd to last pic) and even a purple 'Shameless'. So in terms of colour range, Revlon already has done well and more than what other brands have done with the availability of the necessary spectrum lippies. So well that I think some of these colours, if not all, can be dupes for other high-end lipsticks out there such as 'Lady Danger' or 'Morange' by Mac with 'Audacious' (2nd picture)
Smell: Moving on to the actual balms. From the minute I opened the balms to apply, I smelt a distinct smell that everyone should be familiar of and that is 'mint' or at least the smell of breath freshener (haha, like chewing gum or something but minty anyway). And personally I love it as I have never smelt a lip product with a minty smell not even a balm so it's a nice change and a nice fresh smell.
Finish: The mattifying ability of the lipstick is definitely there as it should but alike other products I've tried even high-end ones like Mac matte lipsticks, if you have any imperfections on your lips then it will definitely show therefore a good lip scrub is essential for this to look sleek. On the other hand, the balm doesn't dry out the lips throughout the day since it has a balm formula which is better than just your average lipsticks as they do tend to dry lips out and cause even more cracking which you can see visibly when re-applying throughout the day.
Hour Wear: The lasting power of this balm is definitely amazing and probably the best, I dare say, among the lip products I have ever tried. The balms lasts for hours 6-8 I reckon with just a minimum of 1 to 2 re-applications, obviously depending on how much drinking and eating and even kissing (wink wink, haha) you do. Mine lasted for 6 hours with just 1 re-application before I took my make-up off, but there wasn't much drinking and eating and definitely no kissing :)
Packaging: The packaging is sleek and reflects what the product is as it is also a matte finish and Revlon has done this with their other ColorBurst balms as well such as the ColorBurst Lacquer with it's shiny packaging just like the balm.
Price: The balms are priced £7.99 therefore similar to the Revlon lip prices and similar to some of other brands alike such as Bourjois lipsticks and ColourBoost crayons. And with Boots' '3 for 2' offer, there's no reason not to dip your paws and try these products, you're getting one for free!
So overall I love the Colorburst Matte Balm range and I definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a good matte lipstick but an affordable one too and if you're after a good dupe for a colour then definitely check this range out as it is amazing :)
(P.S. This is not a sponsored post, these are my own thoughts of the product which I have tried multiple times before making this review/post)
